Blogging on Blogging

First write about your blogging habits:  do you blog, how often, and on what?  Do you follow any blogs, and if so, why?  Next look at the blogs I have shared below.  Spend some time looking at them and reading them.  Then explain your reactions to those blogs.  Which ones would you classify as well done and which as poorly done and why?  What are the qualities of a well-written blog?  Finally, what are the disadvantages and advantages of blogging, and why are so many people doing it today?

An Ideal Reader?

Visit the following website http://www.loc.gov/poetry/180/053.html to read the poem “Selecting a Reader” by Ted Kooser.  First write a reaction to the poem including what you liked and/or disliked.  Then write (in a paragraph or a poem) your image of the ideal reader or the not-so-ideal reader.

Christian Literature

Think about the following questions and then blog a thoughtful, insightful response to this concept of Christianity and literature.  What kinds of stories or literature should Christians be reading? Can a piece of literature be classified as “Christian” or “non-Christian”?  Is there a difference between teaching/studying Christian literature and teaching/studying literature Christianly?

Creativity

You are a student in Creative Writing class, but what does “creative” writing mean?  Write a thoughtful response to the following concepts.  How would you define and describe creativity?  How is creativity expressed?  Can creativity be taught/learned?  Explain whether you feel there is or is not creativity in language/literature/writing, and if there is, how it is expressed in language/literature/writing.

Poets on Poetry

Authors have so many views, opinions, and ideas about writing, so what do famous poets have to say about poetry itself?  Visit http://www.poetsgraves.co.uk/poets_on_poetry.htm to read famous quotations about poetry.  Find one quote (or more if you can’t resist) that is intriguing to you, copy and paste it  into your post comment being sure to include who said the quote.  Then write a thoughtful reflection on the quote.  (Why is it interesting?  Do you agree/disagree with the opinion of the speaker and why? etc.)
